The park is gone, and with genetic monstrosities roaming off the island, this trailer has some serious Lost World vibes. Spoilers ahead, folks.
The trailer begins in a very familiar scene – if you’ve been keeping up with all of the Jurassic World trailers so far. Owen Grady, played by Chris Pratt, gets separated from Claire Dearing, played by Bryce Dallas Howard, by a large head full of teeth.
When he reaches up to explain that he’s okay, Miss Rex awakens, leading to one of the closest calls ever in the Jurassic franchise.
Blue is the last of her kind.
Similar to Lost World, this sequel is a rescue operation. With the assets in danger, executives clamor for their extraction.
While Owen attempts to calm Blue down, operatives engage, and she gets shot with a dart.
It was all a lie.
It turns out, the assets were all aimed to be sold once captured. However, the company has bigger plans for dear ‘ole Blue.
What they need remains unclear, but being the last of her kind sets the stakes pretty high.
This is the most dangerous creature that ever walked the earth.
The horrifying and vicious monster we’ve only seem glimpses of until now takes center stage. It’s some sort of hybrid, mixing the most dangerous animals from the park with the company’s other nefarious experiments.
The creature in question is presented before a live audience. Although it’s not seen, things must get ugly, because later on, the creature is roaming free.
You thinkin’ what I’m thinkin’?
Owen and Blue team up once more to take down this new hybrid menace. Their journey leads them back to an odd mansion that has been seen in every trailer. The new hybrid sets its sights on a mysterious, young girl, and Owen and Blue must fight to save her.
Welcome to Jurassic World.
The last few scenes lead with a stunning and chilling message. Amidst a wave at some tropical resort, with surfers littering the water, the Mosasaur appears in a Jaws-like fashion.
Meanwhile, the monstrous hybrid wreaks havoc in the mansion.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom‘s trailer really sets the stage for Blue’s ultimate demise. She’s seen on the island and in the mansion. It may take her death to save everyone from the new hybrid.
With this franchise intended to be a trilogy, will the third installment be a true Jurassic film without the presence of raptors?
The film has promised to deliver on the horror. As Executive Producer, Steven Speilberg explained, “It has a wonderfully, deliciously scary third act.”
For a final trailer, it did an exemplary job of detailing more on the plot. Although, auctioning dinosaurs off to the rich seems like a very bad idea – yet a perfect seed for a sequel.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom will be in theaters on June 22.
